Boston Dynamics a robotics company that had previously designed a quadruped robot for the U.S. military released the next generation of Atlas, its humanoid robot. The following video demonstrates its abilities.
For me, it’s a realisation that the future is already here. I don’t know if it will be good or bad, only time will tell.
After a little research, I found out that Boston Dynamics is owned by Alphabet’s X R&D facility (previously Google X).
After watching the video a couple of times, I felt obliged to cite Asimov’s three laws of robotics:
- A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
- A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
- A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.
Incredible! Although it has to become a bit more humanoid..:-) The last part where he kicks it to the ground…poor thing..!
